Getting a new entertainment space in Reading

I needed a bespoke home bar after hosting a gathering where we lacked space. I chose to search near the Oracle Shopping Centre.

I found the website while scrolling and emailed photos. Central Bedroom and Kitchens responded with a price that felt right for the work.

The journey of planning this renovation was actually quite detailed. I dedicated several days reflecting on the layout of the space before even picking up the phone. My living area has constantly felt a bit unfinished, and having a proper zone for beverages seemed like the ideal fix to that issue. I remember sitting in my hallway looking at a cluttered countertop covered with bottles and realising that something had to shift. The first interaction with the team was very straightforward, which provided me confidence. We discussed various styles, from contemporary minimalist looks to more classic and wooden finishes. I was quite surprised by how much information they requested regarding the dimensions and the existing decor of my home. It felt like they genuinely desired the finished product to match perfectly with the rest of the building. I offered multiple views in the photos I uploaded, making sure every corner was clear. They explained that the custom nature of the unit signified that precision was absolutely critical to prevent any problems during the fitting. We moved back and forth on possible resources, looking at samples of laminate and different types of timber patterns. It is surprising how much thought goes into picking the correct handles, like pulls and fittings, which could completely alter the vibe of the whole construction. I wanted a place where I might easily mix cocktails for friends without having to repeatedly dash back to the pantry for ice or tools. The convenience of possessing all items in a single spot was the main driver for this purchase. We settled the blueprint following a brief consultation where all my questions regarding wiring and lighting sockets were answered. I appreciated that they didn't hurry the design stage, taking the time to ensure that the depth of the racks was sufficient for my tallest bottles. It seemed like a collaborative process instead than a simple sale, which is rare to locate nowadays.

The installation day arrived faster than anticipated, and the technician was punctual and ready. He started by placing down safety covers to make sure my carpet stayed tidy. Watching the parts being unloaded was fascinating, as the standard of the wood was immediately obvious. He carefully checked the alignment of the walls before attaching the base structure of the unit. I observed as the skeleton gradually took shape, transforming a boring alcove into a practical piece. The degree of craftsmanship involved in fitting the panels to the wonky surfaces of my older home was notable. He explained how each section slotted in to provide maximum strength. We wasted a little time deciding on the exact height for the integrated cooler, making sure it was accessible to open but hidden back from main view. The installation of the worktop was the highly satisfying part of the whole day. Seeing the smooth top finally sitting on the base helped the project come to life. He next installed the glass backing, which instantly caused the room to look twice the size. The LEDs were connected afterward, and testing them for the first time was a thrill. The soft light below the racks highlighted the bottles perfectly. I could visualise precisely how useful this would be for night events. The worker was highly careful, taking the time to wipe down every surface and remove any dust made during the drilling. He also showed me the way to move the shelves if I ever wanted to house larger pieces. The attention to detail was really exceptional, right down to the sealant lines around the joins. It was clear that he had immense satisfaction in his work, which is consistently good to witness. We conducted a last inspection of the completed work to ensure all was to standard. I noted that a single handle was slightly wobbly, and he fixed it straight away with a fast turn of a tool. This thoroughness was just what I was looking for when I booked the job.

The finished area looks completely stunning and has turned into the focal feature of my home. It offers a sophisticated feel that had been formerly lacking from my reception space. The capacity is immense, allowing me to organise all my spirits, mixers, and specialist glasses in a cohesive place. No longer do I need to rummage through cramped kitchen shelves to locate a bottle opener or a certain kind of glass. Everything has its rightful place, which makes entertaining so much simpler and relaxing. I love the way the materials reflect the light in the afternoons, creating a inviting ambience. My friends have already praised the setup multiple times, with some actually asking for the details of the people who made it. It truly feels like a bespoke addition made specifically for my lifestyle. The height of the countertop is perfect for leaning by with a glass, and the integrated lighting strips offer just the right amount of illumination without being too bright. Even when not in use, it serves as a lovely piece of furniture that lifts the whole aesthetic of the property. I used some time placing my bottles on the shelves to create a pleasing arrangement. The glass panels truly help in displaying the labels and giving depth to the small alcove. It has inspired me to try making different cocktails that I before felt were too fussy to bother in a normal setting. Having the sink nearby might have been good, but the area limits meant we opted without it to preserve cabinet space. This was a conscious choice we took during the planning phase, and I do not rue it. The extra drawer room for straws and tools is far more useful to me in the long period.

There were a few of minor drawbacks that are fair to mentioning for a honest perspective. The wait time for the bespoke doors was a bit slower than I initially wanted. It took about six days from the initial deposit to the final fitting date. While this is expected for high-quality work, it meant a some of patience on my part. I had wanted to have it ready for a specific event, but we passed that date by a week. However, the updates from the office regarding the delay were consistent, so I was never left in the dark. I would wait a bit longer for a product that is built to last than receive a rushed job that fails after a couple months. The initial cost estimate was also slightly lower than the total bill, mainly because I decided to upgrade the hardware and include more inside lighting midway through the process. These changes were completely my choice, and the company was extremely transparent about the additional costs involved. Another minor point was the amount of boxes left after the fitting. Although the technician tidied up the build site perfectly, there was a significant pile of waste to dispose of in my recycling. It wasn't a huge problem, but a thing to consider if you possess little bin space. Despite these minor points, the total experience was vastly good. The quality of the fit is much superior to anything I might have purchased from a shop. It feels sturdy and well-constructed, and I am sure it will handle years of use. I feel the worth it has given to my home far outweighs the upfront cost. It has transformed the way I enjoy my downstairs space, making it much more social. I no longer feel cluttered when friends visit.

Reflecting back on the whole project, I am really glad I opted ahead with it. The first idea came from a trip to a friend's house in London, where they had a comparable setup. I realised then how much it enhanced the movement of the evening. When I returned to Reading, I started looking for local options and discovered that working bespoke home bar with a bespoke provider was the best route to achieve the precise look I desired. The ability to choose each element, from the shade of the paint to the placement of the power sockets, made the final result was just as I pictured. I also got a tiny secret compartment built for keeping valuable tools like silver stirrers. This kind of customisation is what renders the experience unique. It did not feel like a generic piece being forced into a room where it did not fit. Instead, it looks like it has forever been a part of the architecture. If you are thinking about a similar domestic improvement, my tip would be to remain patient and spend the effort on the planning stage. It is much better to alter a sketch than it is to modify a unit once it is built. The knowledge offered during the start was crucial in preventing me from making common mistakes, such as putting the cooler too near to a heat source. These small bits of wisdom are what you pay for when you choose skilled experts. I am currently planning at different parts of my house to see where else I might install fitted storage. The success of this bar job has given me the confidence to tackle a bigger renovation in the bedroom later year. It is a wonderful upgrade to my life, and I view ahead to numerous seasons of enjoying it with family and pals. Finding the right balance between style and function was the goal, and I feel we reached it completely. The journey from a cluttered corner to a sleek social hub was well deserving the time and money spent. I now have a space that I am really happy to show with to others. Reading has some great venues to visit for a cocktail, but truthfully, I now prefer staying at my place and using my own private setup. It offers the same feel without the crowds or the travel. That alone is deserving the entire undertaking. I am so pleased with how the ambience works in the night, creating a relaxing environment to relax after a long day at work. It is the little luxuries like this that make home living so rewarding and fulfilling. I really appreciate the workmanship that was put into the final result. The manner the panels close with a soft click speaks plenty about the construction level. No aspect was ignored, and the total appearance is exactly what I hoped it would be when I first began this process. It is a testament to the skill of the team and the standard of the materials utilised. I am a very happy client.
